BINGO!!

This mirror thing is getting weird.

While I think I did alright in the tests, I'm glad this week is over! I'm not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed that there wasn't a History of Magic practice exam though. I know Binns said there wasn't going to be but I thought one of the Professors would have mentioned that these practice NEWTs were real and not just rumours. It was nice to have one less exam to do but it would have been good to get an idea of how I'm going in the subject too.

Anyway, I hope the practice exams went well for all the other 7th years and the 5th years and that everyone has a great Christmas Break.

I decided to avoid Hogsmeade this weekend. With it being the last Hogsmeade weekend of term and almost Christmas, it seemed like it would be too busy and crowded to be fun and so studying for practice NEWTs seemed like a better use of my time. But I heard that Magic Me Beautiful was handing out samples, I almost have Bingo now!!

While the snow is very pretty, I'm glad Professor Birch went over heating charms. I think they'll be very useful this winter!

Ravenclaw: There is left over cake in the common room if you would like some. I made it myself so I promise it hasn't been hexed or charmed or tampered with in any other way and is perfectly safe to eat.

Not to steal Michaela's thing, but I have a question for you all! What is you favourite type of cake? Mine is carrot cake mainly because I love the thick, cream cheese icing.

I know it was announced a few days ago, but I took the time to decide how I actually felt about the practice NEWTs and OWLs. My first thoughts were that it was a bad idea because everyone is already busy and we don't need extra pressure to study and sit an extra set of exams, especially ones that don't count for anything. But now I've decided that it's a really good idea. It will give us an idea of what the exams will be like and a little bit of extra studying won't hurt anyone. If you choose not to study, your results will just give you an idea of how much more study you will actually need to do before the real NEWTs or OWLs. So while extra exams aren't fun, I think they'll be beneficial.

If this name mixing thing is to do with sweets (since that's what people are suggesting), I guess the lesson is don't take food from strangers/anonymous sources. Especially not in a magic school where there could be any number of charms or hexes on it. I would've thought that was common sense though.

Oct. 9th, 2010

It was nice to see Professor Flitwick again! Hopefully Professor Birch gets better quickly though.

Well, congratulations to Professor Bloxam, although it's not really that surprising. Also, congratulations to everyone in the Musical. It'll be really great to watch.

I know I shouldn't complain because I'm lucky I get to use the prefect bathrooms and they are so much nicer than the normal bathrooms but Moaning Myrtle? With her around I think I'd rather use the normal bathrooms. Hopefully she starts to miss her old bathroom soon.

Sep. 17th, 2010

With Wizarding culture and then Hogsmeade, this should be a good weekend! Hopefully by the end of it Ravenclaw won't be last anymore. I know it's only early in the year but being last already is hardly a promising start.

Sep. 4th, 2010

I always find it sort of strange how easy it is to get back into the routine of school. The first day it's all new again but after that it feels as though you've been back forever and that you haven't just has a really long break. Or maybe that's just me. Either way, it's nice to be back.

While the Secret Society book was definitely interesting, I don't know enough about Wa them to be able to tell if it's true or not. What I do find improbable, however, is that the author and the person they were dating told each other so much about their societies. They didn't even date for that long and yet they snuck each other into their secret society's secret places? I would think that goes against some code of loyalty or something. To me it seems like the dating a Circle member bit has been made up because a book about two societies is going to more interesting than a book about one. I am happy to believe that the author was in a society but I'm not sure I would trust anything said about their partner's society.

I don't really follow quidditch but one thing I have always liked about the sport is that both males and females can play it together. What other sports allow that? Although most sports are open to both sexes, they don't compete against each other. The guys compete against other guys and the girls against other girls and in some sports, such as swimming, the girls aren't even allowed to do some of the events that the guys do. Maybe the all girls Quiddicth team is sexist and maybe it's not, but what I think really should be highlighted and admired is the lack of gender discrimination in the sport as a whole. That's more important than what one team is doing. Now can someone talk about something that isn't quidditch?

I can't believe another school year is (almost) over! It must be even stranger for all the seventh years. I'm sure you'll all be fine though. It's a shame Ravenclaw didn't manage to win the house cup as well as the Quidditch cup! We were winning for so long that I was sure it would be ours! Not that it's officially over yet but I think all Ravenclaws would have to write something in their journal and we'd have to steal all of the Hufflepuffs journals to really have a chance (we could do it though! We'd just have to make sure no Hufflepuffs caught us). There's always next year though. Right now I'm just looking forward to enjoying my summer.

Choir was very interesting! Its a pity that seventh years will not be able to be in the recording though. Althea Clearwate seemed nice. I'm sure she and Professor Bobbin will enjoy working together next year, they seemed to get along quite well.
